Tom Scholz (guitarist for Boston) put his Mechanical Engineering degree from MIT to good use and brought the first guitar amp attenuator to market in 1980 as a solution to bringing down the volume of his 100 watt NMV Marshall amps.
Whatever your amplifier of choice, this will help you to get that full tilt, wide open, tube amp sound at useable volume levels!
- 4, 8, & 16 ohm operation
- switch for use with tube and solid state amps
- brings down the volume of an amplifier down to -32 decibels in varying increments
- works with Non Master Volume as well as Master Volume amplifiers
*Note: Not for amps above 100 watt rating! **PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR AMP, BEFORE TURNING "ON", IS CONNECTED PROPERLY TO THE ATTENUATOR AND SPEAKER CAB, W/ CORRECT OHM LOAD, & USING "SPEAKER" CABLES. MISHANDLING OF THIS PRODUCT IN CONJUNCTION WITH YOUR AMP WILL RESULT IN A Damaged AMPLIFIER/COMPONENTS, EXPENSIVE TRIP TO TECHNICIAN, AND OVERALL DEPRESSION.**
An attenuator CAN cause damage to an amp, so YES you risk damaging your amp if you use an attenuator in the wrong way. IF there is an impedance mismatch between the amp and the attenuator, damage can result from its use which is not just normal wear due to hard use. Serial is: 812710 on this unit. Thanks for looking!
