Position Summary
This role enhances attorney effectiveness by developing case information, meeting with clients, drafting forms, finalizing petitions, applications, and waivers for immigration benefits, tracking cases, communicating with clients, and limited support for attorney’ trial proceedings.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
• Keeps cases organized by establishing and organizing files; monitoring calendars, meeting deadlines; documenting actions; inputting information into file database and case management software; and confirming with attorney
• Helps develop cases by maintain contact with clients involved in the case; obtaining information and documentation to support case; including requesting police reports, medical records, criminal records, and immigration records; drafting forms and organizing supporting documentation; finalizing petitions, applications, and waivers for immigration benefits; meeting with clients to prepare hardship letters and/or sworn declarations; translating supporting documents
• Keeps clients informed by maintaining contact, communicating case process
• Maintains case costs by verifying outstanding balances with attorney, clients, and staff
• Ensures case notes are up to date in LawLogix
• Tracking cases with USCIS, CBP, ICE, NVC, and U.S. Embassy in foreign national’s country
• Updates job knowledge by reading updated publications from Department of Homeland Security (USCIS, CBP, ICE), and Department of State (NVC and Embassy)
• Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests, exploring opportunities to add value to job
• Keep abreast of changes in law
• Answer phones, scanning, copying, printing, faxing, and any other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities)
• High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• Must be bilingual and capable of translating between English & Spanish
• Computer hardware and software, such as Microsoft Office: Excel / Outlook / Word, knowledge a must
• Advanced knowledge in client confidentiality, client contact, legal administration, legal compliance, litigation, administrative writing, documentation, word processing, scheduling, verbal communication, and client relations
• Some knowledge of legal procedures
• Ability to understand complex legal documents / forms
• Ability to derive appropriate conclusions from cases presented and highlight key points
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Must have knowledge of legal jargon and courtroom procedures
Physical Demands & Work Environment
This position is entirely stationary, except when moving about the office to make copies and scans. The person in this position frequently communicates with clients and clerks of the court regarding details of a case. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
