We are a law firm seeking a self-motivated, talented Content Writer to write well-researched and compelling articles to help us expand our digital footprint and drive more value through online content. Other content might include blog posts, white papers, news articles and/or ad copy. This is a freelance position with a monthly retainer.
The ideal candidate for this position would have excellent, versatile writing skills and be able to produce content that is relatively error-free. Candidates should have a strong grasp of grammar and structure, and be able to present information in a creative way. // Responsibilities //
Write 2 pieces original, well-researched content per month, roughly 1000-1500 words (topics will be provided)
Create other less-intensive content for a website, social media, advertisements, press releases, case studies, and print materials as needed (300-500 words)
Proofread content for errors and inconsistency
Edit and refine existing content as needed
Analyze content for consistency, accuracy, adherence to style and brand standards
Research competitors & industry to compare and create content that is innovative and original
Use guidelines set by the project manager
// Skills & Qualifications //
Creative and clear writer
Strong writing, editing, proofreading, and researching skills.
Excellent grasp of the English language including spelling and grammar
Professional level verbal and written communication skills
Ability to effectively interview people and gather and organize information for copy, research or article writing purposes.
Ability to think critically and organize information for publication.
Strong problem-solving skills and an affirmative outlook
Familiarity with keyword placement and SEO (preferred)
The ability to consistently meet tight deadlines (if needed, such as for breaking news)
Training and Experience
Experience producing content and/or researching/writing articles (required)
Experience as a Content Writer, Copywriter or similar role desired.
Experience with internal communications, advertising, marketing or journalism/communications-related experience desired.
Experience in planning, writing, editing copy, developing and executing content, including editing, quality assurance, and proofreading desired.
Self-starter; ability to work independently; problem solver; strategic thinker; deadline-oriented; flexible.
Eager to learn and implement new tools and methodologies.
Ability to work with a team in a collaborative environment.
Strong work ethic and dedication to owning and resolving problems.
Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism or related field/experience
Experience using WordPress (preferred, but not required)
Knowledge of G Suite (Docs, Sheets, etc.) and/or Office Suite (Word, Outlook, etc.)
This is an online work at home position, so you will be required to have the following:
Access to Google Drive or Microsoft Office
Good working computer/laptop
High-speed internet access.
