Start Date: March 9, 2017 (ends March 30, 2017)
Schedule: Thursday Evenings, 6pm--9pm
Enrollment: Maximum Six (6) Students
In this class, we will focus on the basic technical underpinnings of copper foil technique as a springboard for experimental creation. This may ultimately include three-dimensional collage with found objects, or inventive ways to restore a glass object. We will discuss design from a construction perspective, including what makes a sturdy end-product, how to reduce glass waste, whether copper foil is the best technique for the project at hand. We will explore making work with and without a pattern. The intention is to finish this class feeling comfortable cutting glass, copper foiling, soldering, using basic patinas, and framing your work. Expect to be excited by this material and the ways it can continue to be incorporated into your artistic practice. No prior experience is necessary.
