These kitties are taking matters into their own paws. Come give us kitty love. Clean our cages and feed us. You will be rewarded with 9 lives or more.... Here is the ARNO story:

If you care about animals and want to make a difference in our community, you may want to volunteer at our no-kill shelter. ARNO or Animal Rescue New Orleans was formed in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, but now is dedicated to the rescue of animals who have been abused, neglected, abandoned, the very young and the very old and the sick. Thanks to wonderful volunteers at our no-kill shelter, ARNO has helped more than 5,000 animals find a forever home in the last 2 years. Volunteers are the lifeblood of ARNO. We couldn't exist without the generosity of our volunteers. Duties include, but are not limited to: 'dishes' (litter pans and food/water bowl scrubbing), laundry, cat cages cleaned, puppy pens cleaned, dogs walked, manning booths at events, etc.

Donations and volunteers are always needed to continue this invaluable work. ARNO receives no major funding, existing entirely on your donations. Please consider helping in any way you can.

Please post to your friends and associates who care about animals. ARNO's success has always been, and continues to be, dependent upon volunteers. We need more local volunteers to keep the operation running. ARNO has been blessed with a successful outreach for out-of-state volunteers but there are times when we must call upon our local folks. I know locals are all busy with your own rescues, rebuilding your homes, your businesses, and trying to get back to financial stability. But please consider coming to help us at the shelter... even one day a week for a few hours.

If you know high school students who love animals, this is a perfect opportunity to put in community service hours, and a wonderful opportunity to add a bright spot to rescued animals lives. Volunteering can even be for a few dog walks or an evening after work or school.
Want to volunteer?
go to http://www.animalrescueneworleans.org/volunteer.html and fill out a very, very brief volunteer application; you will be contacted by email within 24 hours with the many options available for volunteers. WE ARE VERY LOW ON VOLUNTEERS 9-12 or early afternoon caring for cats giving them food and water and cleaning their kennels. These sweet kitties love the attention as much as the clean kennels and food.
You must be able to work with other volunteers who are like-minded about animals
• Be dependable, rain or shine
You will:
• Get more out of volunteering than you can possibly imagine
• Be thanked profusely for coming to help at our no-kill all-volunteer shelter
• Receive great Karma, good graces, etc. for helping these homeless pets know so many people care about them
Can't volunteer right now?
Go on our website at http://www.animalrescueneworleans.org and sign up for our e-News to keep up with the area's only all-volunteer no-kill shelter and rescue group.

Can You Spare $10?
Help us continue our feral dog rehab program, our neo-natal kitten rescue, our spay/neuter programs, heartworm treatment for rescued dogs, pet food/medical care for shelter and indigents' pets, etc. Donate directly through our website using a credit card, totally secure... or mail a check or money order to the address on our website. All donations tax deductible to the full extent the law allows. 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
We started as local first responders after Katrina and our hearts were broken by the state of our area... we saw a need, that there was no one to trap, treat, rehab and adopt out homeless pets. The big organizations left us... please support locals who work to improve the plight of homeless companion animals in our greater metropolitan area.
Come by and meet our animals... you may just fall in love!
ARNO is open to the public seven days a week from 3pm until 7pm. We would love to meet you and introduce you to our shelter pets or just welcome you as a visitor.
Thank you for all you do for the animals and the people of our area!
* community service hours available at our nonprofit *
MEOW!!! Thanks from the kitties///////
