Your support is needed at a public hearing on the newly proposed Jefferson Parish sponsored non-mandatory/voluntary Low/No-Cost Spay/Neuter plan.

The plan will call for a way to generate $188,000 annually to be dedicated to a JP Spay/Neuter program for cats and dogs in Jefferson Parish. The majority of these spay/neuters, approximately 6,000 a year, will be at no cost made available to JP residents.

Please attend and bring friends. There are breeders coming from all Louisiana to oppose, so you don't have to be living in Jefferson Parish to come to the meeting to lend your support in favor of spay neuter initiatives. The meeting should go to about 8:30 so if can't arrive exactly at 6:30, please come anyway. A big turnout is needed to show support. There will be a list of initiatives for spay neuter to be presented to the JP Council.

A big turnout of supporters is needed to get the council to approve this proposed plan, so please strongly encourage everyone you know to attend.

Even if you do not want to speak, you can enter a written statement of support for the initiatives. Please e-mail for info on the initiatives and on how to submit a statement.

NICOLE * a gentle and quiet, sweet tricolor gray tabby/Tortoiseshell who loves to be pet

Then yesterday another cat shows up. This one is a tuxedo cat. Wearing the same exact collar as the first, and again NO TAGS. Very friendly and happy cat. AT our back door. Same as the first.

I cannot keep them for long because I run a bird rescue, and these kitties are looking at my birds like they are an appetizer. I keep them in a mesh cat enclosure outside on my porch during the day, but I bring them in at night and they are put up for the night in pet carriers. I really need my carriers empty though because I have birds that need to go in them at night and now I don't have enough.

These kitties MUST be missed by someone. They are not fixed, so I will NOT return them to you unless you provide me with your vets name and number and I will bring them to your vet to get them fixed and you can pick them up from there. I'm sorry if that sounds harsh, but I am sick and tired of seeing FREE KITTENS TO GOOD home ads here because irresponsible owners let their cats breed and they end up being KILLED in shelters!

So please, if these are your kitties, step up and claim them and do the right thing. Like I said above, I cannot keep them for too long. And it's not fair to them either to be confined 24/7 because I have birds. Obviously someone loved them enough to feed them, socialize them and put pretty fancy collars on them. I'm looking forward to returning your kitties to you.
