Help rebuild homes and lives for low-income people!

The Rebuilding Together CapacityCorps is currently seeking (7) exceptional individuals to serve in New Orleans as full-time direct service AmeriCorps members. Are you ready to turn your idealism into action?

About the Rebuilding Together CapacityCorps:
Rebuilding Together’s AmeriCorps program, called the Rebuilding Together CapacityCorps is a high-impact AmeriCorps*National Direct program of 56 full time AmeriCorps members in 18 states. AmeriCorps*National Direct is a national service program in which dedicated individuals do eleven months of community work in low-income communities – essentially a domestic “Peace Corps” in exchange for excellent experience in a nonprofit and help paying off student loans. Rebuilding Together CapacityCorps is a brand new AmeriCorps program dedicated to increasing the capacity of grassroots nonprofit agencies to assist low-income homeowners in need of home repair and rehabilitation services.

Rebuilding Together CapacityCorps members will act as entry-level program managers in the areas of volunteer recruitment, program development, partnership development, client outreach and construction/home repair. Our AmeriCorps positions offer unique exposure to grassroots nonprofits and provide excellent opportunities for leadership. RT CapacityCorps members will emerge with concrete nonprofit skills and professional experience that is hard to find in other AmeriCorps programs. CapacityCorps members take charge of a particular program area and create infrastructure so that the program can run more effectively and serve more low-income homeowners. We love self-starters who can dive in, take ownership and develop their vision. We look for individuals with a commitment to helping others, and excellent organization/writing/presentation skills. College degree or relevant life experience is required. Recent college grads, retirees, stay-at-home moms looking to return to the workforce and those looking for second careers or experience in nonprofits are welcome! Persons of color and individuals with disabilities are encouraged to apply.

About Rebuilding Together:
Rebuilding Together is a growing national nonprofit organization with over 200 chapters in United States. Rebuilding Together's mission is to preserve affordable housing by bringing volunteers and communities together to rehabilitate the homes of low-income homeowners. We are a dynamic and growing grassroots nonprofit organization that helps thousands of homeowners have safe and decent housing by repairing their homes free of charge. Last year, Rebuilding Together celebrated rebuilding 100,000 homes in the past twenty years.

Details & Benefits:
Rebuilding Together’s CapacityCorps positions work in grassroots Rebuilding Together affiliates 38-40 hours per week for 11 months. CapacityCorps members receive around $1,045 per month as a living stipend to cover basic living expenses (before taxes). Other benefits include: an education award of $4,725 (before taxes) upon completion of service to pay off student loans or apply towards more schooling, health insurance, child care benefits, and a support network of other AmeriCorps members. Members must be 18 or older. In addition to the many benefits of AmeriCorps service, we pay for our CapacityCorps members to attend out of state trainings such as orientation in Louisiana and a service project trip to rebuild homes in the devastated gulf coast.

To Apply:
20 AmeriCorps positions open across the nation in California, Iowa, Louisiana, New Jersey and Texas that begin on January 12, 2010 and finish on December 10, 2010.
