I have lyrics and suggested melodies written, and I've recorded the guitar part and faked the drums with my computer. I just need someone to record vocals. Very able lead guitarist looking for a metal band. Don't ask what kind of metal, I write whatever comes to my head. I'm looking to join an established band, or form one. You MUST be technically skilled with your instrument. Not trying to sound demanding or anything, but I want to be able to write and not have to compensate for a lacking guitarist/bassist/singer/drummer... you get the idea.
I've been searching for a competent metal band for a few years now. And I've dealt with all these things, so I'm going to get it out of the way now:
I do NOT want to play: blues/rock/deathcore/punk/sludge or black metal (I don't mind it, just don't want to play it)
I'm looking for people who are committed, willing to practice, and willing to play shows... LOTS OF SHOWS. I'm tired of being in a band that plays 1 or 2 shows a year. Preferably people around my age (18), but to be honest it doesn't matter as long as you have the skill.

Maybe it's not YOUR idea of bizarre, but for crissakes, it is compared to the dreck/pablum/Yawnville that's the best a lot of cover bands can dream up. The idea of it is more an act than a straightup band in the traditional sense, because there's very little that's traditional about it. Hopefully, there's a chemistry that allows an "I don' givashit" shapeshifting onstage. Everything from Johnny Cash to Miles Davis to Scott Joplin to Fiona Apple. So this is the same pay-to-play scammers that posted the other day. Just google search pay-to-play scam. These guys probably did an Afton show got ripped off and decided it was a good idea to do it to other musicians. Afton's name is shit in this city now and they can't book anywhere anymore and these guys are headed down the same path.

"INCLUDING PRODUCERS AND MANAGERS AND MAYBE SOME RECORD LABELS..." HAHAHAHAHA good one I doubt there will be anyone there but you friends and family that had to pay $10 for a ticket! That's how pay-to-play works. Producers, managers, and record labels know about pay-to-play and would never go to one of these scam shows. At least afton sold their tickets for $5, these people are trying to one up the king of the scammers Afton.

Flag these scammers and let them know that pay-to-play only works in back water suburbs and middle of nowhere venues and not in a music city!

Dec. 3rd thru end of February or whatever you can do). I am just trying to immerse myself in NOLA music, food, and culture, become a better musician, and escape the Northern winters. I used to live in Lafayette and am looking forward to getting back down to Louisiana.

what you say both say is true, but music business should complement music, not the other way around. Art is not in any way connected to capitalism. I just think that we shouldn't need to sacrifice in order to be appreciated and earn what we deserve. the fact that great musicians had day jobs just goes to show that instead of selling out and doing some money music, they took a job and decided to play what they wanted, regardless of popularity. In the end, yes, they did become incredibly economically stable. And they also gave something to the world that if it weren't for a few open minded clubowners and business people, otherwise would never had been heard. Because people do not want to hear new music unless somebody with clout (money) deems it worthy. And this is totally incorrect. It's hard to put price tabs on something like music because we can't really quantify the benefits it gives us since most of these are psychological. There are so many factors to consider.

I�m really tired of hearing all the sob stories of botched recordings, miserable experiences
and lame productions that artists are left with. Unfortunately, they have mostly themselves
to blame. All too often they got someone or some situation that would �produce� or record them for free or cheap.
The artist did NOT do the research on this person or studio. And�you get what you pay for.

I am a pro. I don't work for cheap. But we can work out a rate works for both of us.
AND I am smart enough to recognize a great speculative (spec) project when I see one.

I don�t work for $10 / hr like many desperate, clueless or beginner engineers (aka: recording school graduates),
self-proclaimed �producers� (makin� �beats� is NOT producing) and �I have an Mbox� studios seem to be doing.
I don�t do flat fees, sight unseen. Music is not like a factory.
(But a lot of people seem to do it that way these days�and see where THAT has gotten us!)

What I do is deliver a pro recording at an appropriate rate that works for us both

If you were hiring a contractor to build something or a mechanic to
fix your car (producer/engineer in this analogy), would you hire
someone just because they have great tools?
If your friend just bought a helicopter, would you have them take you flying in it?

Everyone has a �studio� these days. SO F**KING WHAT!.
Even if it is a real and quality studio, don't be seduced by that. Be confident in the experience and ability of the person using it to help you create your music..
TALENTED people have made some great records on cheap gear.
Huge-budget flops have been recorded in awesome studios.

A studio is just a tool. Granted, good tools are good to have, but
a studio is just an tool nonetheless. Who is wielding this tool (studio)
