**LOST** Black & Rust Terrier/Schnauzer Mix (Ponchatoula/Springfield)
Rosaryville Road at Hwy 22
After so long, I desperately need help from folks living in this area to help me find our longtime best friend and return him to his kingdom.
This is who we're looking for:
He's a 12 YEAR OLD neutered MALE terrier/schnauzer mix; BLACK with RUST markings; GRAY on top of head. Around 30 pounds, stands about 20" in height.
His energy level is that of a much younger dog, but his teeth and eyes tell his age. His coat has always been left natural - wirey with a little wave to it, but if someone has added him to their household or back yard, they may have trimmed his face and head to change or "neaten up" his natural scruffy appearance. He enjoys bathing, brushing, tolerates combing, loathes having his toenails trimmed and I can't imagine him putting up with clippers.
This is a busy little dog who lives to be where the action is (ie underfoot) or snuggled on the couch beside his friends. He is an energetic, vocal watchdog, expert cat herder, lethal mouser and voracious chowhound. He adores the 5 kitties he raised - defending them from intruders and refereeing their feline household disputes. He enjoys the company of other dogs of either sex, but will "trash talk" with male neighbor dogs on his turf. He doesn't realize that he's not a Great Dane.
Although he has been neutered for 10 years, he still loves the ladies and will turn into a complete lounge lizard if an enticing female strolls by. He is feisty and will defend himself if cornered, frightened, threatened or hurt. He enjoys well-mannered children and babies but does not put up with being hit, kicked or teased. He is assertive and would prefer to run the show if allowed to do so. He responds poorly to yelling, hitting, grabbing and rough or forceful physical restraint, but loves kind words, big smiles, hugs, and offers of treats. He's quite a ham. He is a perfect balance between a fun, loving, spoiled house dog and all-around tough little house and yard working dog. He can go from sprawling on the bed with his feet in the air begging tummy rubs to tearing out the cat door to challenge visitors coming up the driveway as fast as a race car goes from 0 to 100. He has springs in his feet and celebrates every meal as if it were his last (and he wants yours, too). He lit up our lives for over a decade and his kitties, canine girlfriend and owner miss him terribly.
He simply vanished into the middle of the night while taking a run. The front door was open. No noise, no barking, no disturbance. Nothing different from every other night of his life. Girl dog came back in. He didn't. No clues, no sightings reported by neighbors. He had never left his several acre property for longer than a half hour once every few months to sniff butts with the neighbor dogs across the street and only during the day when they were out. He was accustomed to the deer wandering through the yard, the armadillos poking around, the possums hanging from the trees and whatever else wandered through at night. He hadn't had his dinner yet, as I'd been out late at my son's. He n e v e r missed a meal. I called all night. The girl dog barked for him. We called and searched for weeks, every few hours, day and night. Nada.
So that's how it came down and that's who we're looking for - help me bring him home. If you have the tiniest tidbit of information about him or clue to his whereabouts or even vaguely think you might have seen this guy, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE contact me by email with the "reply" button above. Even if he has found a home with someone you know - I just need to know what happened to him and I'd sure like to have him back.
Thanks in advance for your assistance.
